Hi...

The Q2W3 Fixed Widget plugin should do this for you. This provides a method to fix one or more widgets in place as the screen is scrolled.

Thanks @Tom I will give it a try.
The Sixteen Nine has a sticky sidebar, so I thought the Genesis can do without additional plugin.

Some clarification might help you out here... the left 'sidebar' on Sixteen-Nine is actually the theme header, displayed fixed and vertical. This is designed as a part of the theme.
