I've looked around for three days trying to figure out how to do this, and it seems to be a fairly common request for WordPress, with no simple solutions.

What I want is to eliminate sub-category posts from appearing on a parent category archive. All I really want the parent category to do is introduce the general topic and then offer a picture and short description of each of the sub-categories. Sort of like a home page for each section.

Does anyone know how to achieve this?

This looks promising. I'll try to work my way through it and see what happens. Many thanks.

Did you ever make any headway on this? I've been searching the last few days and it doesn't seem I'm alone trying to figure it out. Most articles too are simply outdated
