Need help replicating my current layout on Genesis

I recently just bought the StudioPress package and would like to transfer over my current site to the Genesis framework. I've looked at all the available themes for download, but haven't really found one that I liked.

My main question is, what theme should I go with that will allow me to easily replicate my site's current layout/theme?

Looks like you need a theme with a full-width header and footer but +/- 960px content area. If you aren't worried about the site being mobile responsive (I say that because your current site isn't responsive), I would look at the BackCountry child theme. If you do need a mobile responsive site, try Minimum Pro. Either way you're looking at some considerable CSS work to replicate what you've got, but if you're comfortable with CSS, it shouldn't take long.

If it were my project, I would probably use the Genesis Sample theme and just bring over whatever elements I needed. You can change the layout of any Genesis child theme to make it do what you want, and there are tons of tutorials out there. Just a matter of your comfort/skill level and how much time you have available.

Thanks Andrea. Looks like I have a lot of research to do.

Is there any way you (or anybody else) could tell me how to go about changing the Genesis Sample primary/secondary nav bar size? It's too big for my liking.

Another issue I'm having with is that the all the images don't seem to be showing the correct size, whether on the blog posts or the sidebar. They are all showing up as the original size.

Look under the Site Navigation heading in your stylesheet - everything there will affect both the primary and secondary nav. In particular, try adjusting the padding under .genesis-nav-menu a to keep the menu from being so thick.

As for the images, install the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, activate it, then go to Tools > Regenerate Thumbnails to run it. Once it finishes, your images should be the right sizes. You won't have to use the plugin for images going forward - only the ones that were on the site before you switched to Genesis. Hope that helps!
