I want to add a donate button to every one of my posts. I'd like to automate this by creating a post template that would insert the donate button into each post when I open the new post box.

I'm not super proficient with Genesis themes. So could someone walk me through it or give me some pointers about how to do this?

You can use blocks or custom fields with HTML for a button.

Now you can log in to your WordPress admin area and create or edit a post. Scroll down a little on the post edit screen, and you will notice a new 'Template' panel or 'Post Attributes' meta box with an option to select the template. You will see your 'Featured Article' custom template listed there.
