MemberHi everyone,
This is my first post here as I'm relatively new to the genesis world that I discovered one month ago by making the big jump into it.
My website was several years old and needed a big refresh to be more modern, faster, cleaner and for a lot of different reasons...In the past, I was using a Theme Forest worpdress theme and for my new version I've tested some of the big themes out there such as Divi, X-Theme, Avada and so on...but I didn't like none of them...yes they are nice looking themes but they are slooooow, bloated with a lot of useless javascripts and code, their options panels are so big that you need an aircraft pilot licence to use them...So, after reading many tests, reviews, blog and so on...I say to mysell that I should have a test with Genesis and one month later I must agree that this was one of my best decision in my all wordpress experience...
Ok, I must admit that Genesis is not as easy as the others in the first time (for the beginner it could be very difficult) and after three days of playing with the genesis sample theme, I was near to ask Studiopress for a refund as I was not able to do something nice with it and could not understand the philosophy behind...but I perseverate and after one week, I started to understand how it works (and the philosophy behind) thanks to all the tutorials available out there and to the big community behind Genesis...I was able to find some lines of code here and here to achieve what I wanted to do with my website.
After one month, I was simply addicted to it, like a kid playing with Lego and trying to make the tallest building with it 🙂 because Genesis is like a big Lego and I was able to do pretty all I wanted to do...sometimes it can be done fastly and some other times it is slower but I only face one problem that I was not able to resolve in all the functions I've added to my website (placing an ads below social sharing icons (managed by a plugin) in the content of the post...never find a solution even with the function priority) but found another way to manage this.
So, now my website is alive (after one month of hard work), I've made all the coding starting from the genesis sample theme and use some code from Altitude Pro theme only for the home page (in order to not code everything by myself). I'm not a developper, I didn't learned code, I don't know how to code something in php (and CSS) from the ground but where I'm pretty good is at understanding the code and hacking it to make what I want even if it take me hours 🙂
So here it is, if you want to see what can be achieved with the genesis sample theme, you could visit my site here: 1001Pallets
Hope you'll like it and do not hesitate to send me your feedback, it's always positive to have the voice of others on our work.
Hope Genesis will continue for years as now I'm addicted to it and I have several other websites to update 🙂Have a great day !
PS: sorry for my english, this is not my mother tongue and I do my best to write it not too bad 🙂
