    I want to introduce transparency into my site tagline. The site tagline includes a search widget, and when I amend .site-tagline to include opacity, the search widget becomes transparent too - see link at bottom of post. Is it possible to leave the site-tagline background colour transparent, but not apply transparency to the widget? In the code below I have made opacity 70%.

    .site-tagline {
    background-color: #f5f5f5;
    opacity: 0.7;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #eee;
    margin-top: 60px;
    padding: 40px 0;
    }

    .site-tagline p {
    margin: 0;
    }

    .site-tagline-left {
    float: left;
    width: 50%;
    }

    .site-tagline-right {
    float: right;
    text-align: right;
    width: 50%;
    }

    .minimum .site-tagline {
    margin-top: 600px;
    }

    False alarm!

    I fixed this by changing colour from hex to rgba which includes an alpha channel and amending CSS from:

    background-color: #f5f5f5;
    opacity: 0.7;

    to:

    background-color: rgba(76, 175, 80, 0.7);
