    I'd like to narrow the post width from 720 to something like 620 to 640 (prefer shorter line length for readability). I'd also like to adjust the sidebar from 340 to 300. When I do this in CSS, it kills the mobile-responsiveness. I like the Minimum Pro theme.
    Is there a way to do this in CSS without killing responsiveness?

    .content will be 640px
    .sidebar is already 300px
    and finally .wrap will be 1100px (for some breathing space, you can reduce that)

    You tried this?

    Hey, thanks. I have tried a number of things, but it whacks the mobile responsive on phones, etc. I'm assuming there's something more I need to do ...

    Hi Brian,

    Changing structure is more than just selecting a width because, as you've found, everything changes with screen/device size and they all interact with each other. So, since you're actually after readability / characters per line, why not focus on the type instead of the structure?

    Start with something like :

    .entry-content p {
      font-size: 20px;
    }

    That might carry you right down to smartphone presentation with just one line of CSS.

    You can get more involved if you like. There's lots of expertise and tools available, for example, with these links (quoted to prevent the antispambot from nuking my post 🙂 )

    basics - http://www.pearsonified.com/typography/
    extended  - http://typesetwith.me/
    javascript if you want to really get involved - http://simplefocus.com/flowtype/

    Possible?
