Minimum 2.0.1 has lost "Edit CSS" option in Appearance Menu and Theme Settings

I downloaded Minimum 2.0.1 for a new website I just created. I have Minimum 2.0 installed on another website.

I was looking to override Minimum 2.0.1 CSS settings by going to:
Appearance
Edit CSS

which should take me to an empty CSS file I can modify.

However, this option that was in Minimum 2.0 has disappeared in Minimum 2.0.1.

Is there a reason for this? If so, what is the new method for overriding CSS settings in Minimum 2.0.1?

Hi,
This is generally a problem with your hosting, not with Genesis. The answer is probably that you'll need to use FTP (or your host's control panel if there is one) to change the file permissions on the style.css file. On some hosts, if the default permission is 644, changing to 666 might work. On other hosts, sometimes you have to go as far as using 777, which is somewhat insecure.

If this works, then you're good to go. If you need to edit the functions.php, you'll probably run into the same problem, which would be solved the same way.

The two websites I am talking about are hosted by the same company (VidaHost), and in both sites the permissions are 644 on:
/public_html/wp-content/themes/minimum/style.css

however, as described before, the site using Minimum 2.0 gives me the option Appearance>Edit CSS and the site using Minimum 2.0.1 doesn't.

I tried your solution on my Minimum 2.0.1 site:

• I changed the style.css in the above location to 666 and refreshed the Dashboard. No change. Still no Edit CSS.
• I changed the style.css in the above location to 777 and refreshed the Dashboard. No change. Still no Edit CSS.

Am I changing the correct style.css?

Not sure what to try next.

Sorry I missed the 2.01 part of your point. I would contact official Studiopress support (this is all volunteers), and see if there's anything different about 2.01. I don't have Minimum.

I raised a support ticket, but I've just found the answer....

I installed JetPack for WordPress 15 mins ago:

Jetpack – WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth

When I authorized JetPack by entering my login details for WordPress.com, the "Edit CSS" item appeared in my site 'Appearance" menu...

Editing Custom CSS is actually a JetPack feature, described here:
http://jetpack.me/support/custom-css/

Problem solved.

How would you do this without JetPack, are there alternatives I wonder...? Just curious.
