I'm looking to set up a members only forum and want to utilize bbPress. My curiosity is in using a paid member model, via Copyblogger's Premise Plugin. I envision the workflow would go something like this:
- End User Visits Website
- End User Purchases a Support Membership Package
- End User is added as a user of the bbPress forum system & to WordPress User List
- End User is emailed a purchase confirmation, suggesting they log in and enable Google Authenticator (2-Step Authentication).
I want users to be able to move in and out of the WordPress Admin and the Forum, seamlessly, without additional logins being required.
My thought is to operate the support forum under /forum/ and protect that area with the Premise Member Access options. Is this the best option?
Question first, do you already own Premise because they stopped selling it recently.

Well, because you are using Premise and they once provided their own support that might be the right place to ask then. This forum has always been strictly SP themes and WordPress. All Premise inquiries were forwarded to the Premise site. And I haven't seen very many Premise questions on here.

anitac, I did take your suggestion and submit a support request, via the Premise system. However, my initial thought was, someone on this forum, would have already accomplished, what I'm trying to do, with one of the StudioPress Child-Themes. Honestly, I haven't even selected a child theme, for the website which this idea will be implemented on, yet. It is simply using Genesis, at this point.
Ok, we'll just leave this as it is and maybe someone using Premise may see it and chime in here.

Can you edit the title of this to include the words Premise? That would have been a better way to go since that's your target audience on here.

We're using Premise to sell access to a bbPress forum. You'll probably need a few additional plugins too, including bbPress Genesis Extend and Premise bbPress Connect.
Unfortunately, I don't think I can edit the title, but I had gone back and added "Premise" as one of the Tags.
Admittedly, I haven't used Premise for as much as it is capable of - a few landing pages, here and there, but that is it. The more I use it, the more capable it becomes.
However, I hope Copyblogger dresses it up a little, improves the UI/Usability, now that they've taken it off the market. It just doesn't have that StudioPress je ne sais quoi. Unlike their other products, Premise seems to be more clunky and complicated. I'm not finding it very easy, at all, trying to set up this Member's Only Forum, as a paid model, using Premise.

I know there are some Premise discussions on the Copyblogger site forum. They don't have a dedicated forum for Premise, but one of the moderators said that queestions were welcome there. You may want to try that site, also.

It's been a bit frustrating as a Premise user that there's no forums to seek assistance (the Premise threads around here often get shut down pretty quickly). Would be great to know if the Copyblogger site offers that. Thanks!

I've been trying to configure a forum using bbpress, premise, and the executive child theme for the past three weeks and I'm done.
It just does not work and I've not been able to get it to work.
I'm currently looking at alternative like a private linkedin group, not ideal but trying to get genesis and bbpress to work together with premise has been evil
@tafita I am speaking from very recent, very limited experience (last couple days), here, but it does work. I was able to get it to work, though I wasn't using the Executive Child Theme. Like I said above, I feel that Premise is clunky and complicated. I certainly didn't finding it very easy, to use or intuitive. However, the Premise support website provided me with enough instruction to help me through it.
I've been warned that this may not be the right space, for this type of conversation, but I will attempt to help you. My disclaimer is just what I said, above: I am speaking from very recent, very limited experience, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt.
Why not start by describing exactly what you are trying to accomplish? Premise may not be necessary at all.
We've also got that combo working with the Eleven40 theme and are available to help (not experts, but have some working knowledge of how the pieces fit together).
I'm using premise to make my website a membership site which includes a private members forum. The issue is that nested replies to forum posts are misaligned when I'm logged in. If you checkout this screenshot you can see that replies are nested to the left and text it cut off on the right side:

That alignment thing looks like a bbpress format, and you can probably change it easily enough by modifying your styles. I've not done any of that so I can't guide you where to go for it but probably others here can. Remember too that viewing through the front-end will be different than that screenshot you sent from the admin side.
Not sure what you mean by the problems when logged in on a dummy account. Can you post the URL so we can check it out?
Also just checking, did you install the plugins referenced in this post?
