    I'm having a hell of a time getting a particular conditional tag to work on my custom widgets. Everything is working fine but as soon as I insert a particular conditional tag the theme breaks.

    I've already posted about the issue I am having and it is the Magazine Pro theme I am using.

    Here is a link to a thread I've already created regarding this issue

    If anyone can help I'll be very grateful plus you'll be helping someone else who is having a similar problem

    This is the correct way to add new widgets in child themes running HTML 5 markup http://wpsites.net/web-design/adding-new-widget-areas-in-studiopress-themes/

    I also fixed your code and posted it here however my answer hasn't been approved yet probably because its a new account http://www.websitebabble.com/html-php-css-javascript-coding-programming-topics/32895-wordpress-conditional-tags-breaking-my-theme.html

    Brad, you're star! Thanks for your reply and I'm looking forward to exactly what your fix is.

    I've looked at the wpsites article you referenced and the key difference appears to be using 'before' and 'after'

    E.g.

    My original code...

    	echo '<div class="banners-top widget-area">';
    	dynamic_sidebar( 'banners_2' );
    	echo '</div>';

    Suggested changes I need to make...

    'before' => '<div class="banners-top widget-area">',

    'after' => '</div>',
