    Hi folks...

All of a sudden, when I'm editing a page in WP, the link buttons in the tool menu at the top of the edit page have become inaccessible, and, regardless of whether text is selected or not, they don't work?

I'm using the education theme, and haven't had this problem before. Both the create link and break link buttons cannot be accessed.

Anyone else experience this, and if so, did you find a solution?

    Thanks,

    Bill

That sounds like a JavaScript issue. Disable all plugins, then try again.

Have disabled all plugins and it didn't change anything, Gary.

Further, I'm seeing this same issue on a number of WP sites I've built, some hosted on different servers. I am puzzled.

This has happened to me on site using Next Gen Gallery.
If you have that installed it could be the culprit. It is a known issue which you can see in their plugin support.
There is a workaround which is not very satisfactory.
Select any piece of text and apply Bold. It will bring back the link button. You can 'unbold' again.

There have been a lot of problems with Next Gen Gallery since WP 3.6 and version 2.0 of their plugin. There are some indications that these problems have been solved since version 2.0.11. I haven't tried it and I would suggest proceed with caution.

I thank you so much for this, eamonmoriarty. Worked just like you said. And, as you suggest, I will proceed with caution on my other sites too.
