Hello,
I am new to WP and have encountered an early issue with the activating of a theme.
I have uploaded the genesis.2.0.1.zip file first. Then when I go to upload the executive-pro.zip file and activate it I get a message saying: This child theme requires its parent theme, Genesis
What am I doing wrong? It is easily fixed? Any help here would be great. Thanks 🙂
October 31, 2013 at 7:51 pm #70221AnitaCKeymasterDid you "install" the Genesis file? You install it first as you would any other theme, except... you do not activate it. Once you upload it, then install the child theme.

This is what I get first off:
Then this message:
October 31, 2013 at 8:05 pm #70226AnitaCKeymasterWhat about the Genesis Framework? You need to install the framework first. How did you upload the genesis.2.0.1.zip file?

October 31, 2013 at 8:37 pm #70229jonedwards80MemberHello,
Sorry, I did I think. What this correct?
November 1, 2013 at 8:29 am #70298AnitaCKeymasterYes, that's correct. So the theme should install properly now. Have you tried again?

November 1, 2013 at 3:59 pm #70394jonedwards80MemberI have tried it multiple times! I am really at a loss... I am using a Mac and Firefox. Could that be my issue?
November 1, 2013 at 4:17 pm #70395AnitaCKeymasterI would suggest putting in a support ticket with Studiopress on this. Please be sure to reference the link to this discussion so they can see your screenshots. I will send out a tweet also.

The screenshots above all look normal to me, as far as what it should say when a theme is properly installed.
Have you tried viewing the site? (Where it says "New Theme Activated : Visit site")?
(And if I am missing the point and sound like a dork, I'm sorry! 🙂

November 1, 2013 at 5:05 pm #70411jonedwards80MemberHello,
Thanks so much for all your comments and suggestions. Here is a screenshot of the site, is this what its supposed to look like before content is added?
November 1, 2013 at 5:07 pm #70412Erin UlrichParticipantI haven't seen the new Executive Pro installed without content yet, but I think that's right. The footer text does indicate that Executive Pro is the active theme.
