Excuse me but I am a little confused as are I believe are others.

I have been a professional web dev client of Brian Gardner and his team since he first launched his themes quite a while back (ala Revolution all inclusive pack). I purchased the equivalent of the "total inclusive theme package" called Revolution in those early days way before Genesis. Since that time I have purchased maybe a dozen others as I need them. I love the system and it works. However...

So now I get emails telling me I have "just a few days to buy" the new and improved package before the themes start requiring a recurrent annual fee to continue getting updates. At least that is how it comes across. I can find nothing readily available on the site that explains this better.

"PLUS: The Pro Plus Package includes themes from 3rd-party developers. So you have instant and unlimited access to every theme currently available in the StudioPress theme shop (plus support and updates*)."

    And this (from the email):

This will change on April 1, 2016 -- so you have three days to act.

"Beginning April 1, there will be a recurring annual fee added to the Pro Plus Pack ($99.95).

Each year when you pay this fee, you will receive 365 more days worth of new themes, updates, and support.
If you don’t make the annual payment, your access to all of the following ends: theme downloads, updates for themes you’ve already downloaded, new themes, and support."

Here's the link I was directed to: http://my.studiopress.com/pro-plus-offer/?utm_source=bnc-sp&utm_medium=email&utm_content=%5BReminder%5D%203%20Days%20Left%20to%20Get%20Every%20StudioPress%20Theme%20for%20Just%20ONE%20Payment&utm_campaign=prerecurring2016

    My questions are:

1-So will Genesis turn into another "Premium only" buy then pay and pay and pay to use one theme? (or at least get it updated as is and has been the program for years)?
2- If I purchased your themes that were sold as being updated forever (or at least as long as you kept the theme in your mix), do I now lose that?

I just believe and have heard from several others, that your roll out and wording of what appears to be a new paradigm is confusing at the least.

Please explain to many of us, your loyal customers for many years.

    Sandy

The terms change for NEW pro plus purchases AFTER April 1st.

Did you buy pro plus after April 1st?

    Then this does not change.

It does not apply to anyone who has pro plus now.

It does not apply to single themes.

The offer was for anyone who did NOT have Pro Plus to buy it now *before* those terms change.

Thank you for your reply Andrea.

It was confusing to receive emails with offers to grandfather me into the Pro Plus Package before recurring payment start on April 1st. I thought I was already grandfathered as an existing customer. After looking for an email from StudioPress on the new licensing & not finding anything, delving deeper was added to my to-do list for this week.

I love StudioPress and Genesis and thought it was confusing to be asked to re-buy to avoid the new licensing. Admittedly I've been more away from the community over the past year and thought I missed something. Honestly, I was ready to shake my head and as the saying goes... belly up to the bar. It was a relief to investigate today and learn from your reply that as an existing customer, my Pro Plus Package is grandfathered as I had hoped.

Thanks for honoring the current as you make changes for the future!
    Best Wishes!

I had the same thought, but had it worded in a bit of different tone. Thinking the same thing.
Having bought back in the "Revolution" days, I was hoping to be grandfathered in but the email did not explain it. The email just said "Pay up by midnight or else!"

    Thank You for the clarification

It does not apply to single themes.

That is the question I had! Thank you for answering it.

So what does this mean if I develop a site for a client, based on a theme purchased as part of the Pro Plus All-Themes package, and stop maintaining that site? Do updates to Genesis and the theme also stop?

In that case it seems better to, buy the theme separately, as updates are guaranteed when buying single themes.

@iiteractive it has no effect on if genesis upgrades on that site or not.

Your client does not have access to our support or the member's area. If they want or need to, then they have to buy.
