One thing I'm thinking of is... creating a category like, say, "featured posts" and assigning 30-50 posts to that category... Then it could just use a widget to display them.

Is there a plugin that could automatically sticky 3-6 posts everyday from the posts in that category (and unsticky's the older ones)? ... I really don't know how to go about this and I've looked for plugins but none seem to do this.

What would be an alternative way to do that without manually, tediously stickying/unstickying posts everyday? It's a mindless job, so I want it to be automated.

    Antranik,
You can schedule your all post with one day difference & set that category to show feature Post & set 5 or 6 post to show only.
And after a day, your new scheduled post been published, so according to featured post it'll show the latest 5 or 6 post & replace the old one's.

Below is the link, which guide you how you schedule your post.

Hope it'll work for you. thanks

I see what you're saying, that wouldn't work unfortunately because everybody on my mailing list would automatically receive those posts (RSS) as they would be the "newest" post but they're not actually real and it would be spammy.

Then you've to approve manually, or you can try spamming plugin , but I don't think so the plugin accurately check the spamming.

Not quite what you're after .. yet perhaps use the Featured Posts Widget.

Set the number of posts to show = 6 and Order By = Random
