I have developed a new website using localhost on my MacBook Pro with Genesis and the Crystal themes. I now need to upload it to a new web host setup with WordPress.  Do I just FTP the local contents of the wp-content folder to the same folder on the web host? Or is that just too simple?

I should add that I have a number of plugins installed and a few pages and posts already setup.

Don't forget about the database. You'll need to export and restore the database also (and correctly change the path).

BackupBuddy is a great tool for site migration. It has saved me hours! In the past there have been issues with some hosts configurations/speed (GD most notably) but they seem to have been resolved.

The 50K foot version is ... It's a $ WP plugin that you install, run a backup, save a migration file (now those steps can be combined), ftp the files to new host, create or drop the new database, type http://mysite.com/importbuddy.php and it walks you through the install process.

There are a number of great sites with variations on the process if you google.

Thanks for your help but I thought it simpler to start again as I had not done that much development yet. I copied the Crystal and Genesis themes up to the Themes folder on the live site then activated the Crystal theme. OK apart from only having the Header Right, Primary & Secondary sidebar showing in the widgets area. I have just posted a new query on this but do you have any ideas?
