What settings do I use to set up a static page? I created a new page called "Home" and set this to be the static front page and it is displaying with normal page styling instead of the full-width Home page. I have the full width layout selected for the Home page.
Also, any hooks I'm adding such as <?php if(is_home()) { ?> are not displaying on this page.
I'm missing something obvious here I think. Any ideas?

Connect to server via FTP and rename the home.php file to home-old.php. Now refresh the site and you will get the new home page

I'm not seeing a home.php in either Genesis or Child theme folder. I changed the file name in the child theme called front-page.php to front-page-original.php and that didn't work.
Can you point me to which file in child or parent? Much much appreciation!

Hi there. Firstly, I think you should change the file name front-page-original.php back to front-page.php – you don't need to be messing with template files.

Secondly, wherever you have is_home(), change it to is_front_page().

Thirdly, you can set to display full width content on the page editing screen.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks, I got it to work finally using is_front_page(). Strangely, i tried this before and it didn't work. But maybe it was because
the blog page was using index.php as the template. I had to delete and recreate the page to have it use the corrrect page_blog.php template.
Now, the primary menu isn't showing on the front page.
Frustrating little quirks that are difficult to debug.
