I find it super-frustrating that I can't add or customize the HTML the theme generates without having to delve into the deep realm of the core theme.

I have a child theme and just wanna put the post category above the entry-title, instead of in the entry-footer where it is now. On a regular website, I'd simply just put the category HTML tag (I think it's called "entry-categories") above the entry-title. I have no idea how to change the placement of the category tag in Genesis.

I guess it can be done using the functions.php but I am at loss for how to even start doing that... Anyone have any suggestions?

This looks like it might be the code you need to paste in your functions.php file. You might need to modify it slightly.

Hmm, I was unclear, I want the 'Filed under: Category' thingy to be above the entry-title on the first page aka the loop. The code you linked to did that but only on a single page.

Current structure on the loop page:

    Entry-title
    Entry-meta (with 'Leave a comment')
    Entry-content
    Entry-footer (with 'Filed under: Category')

    I want following structure:

    Entry-title
    Entry-meta (date)
    Entry-content
    Entry-footer (with 'Leave a comment')

Is there a way to rearrange that?
