    Hi, newbie question for you.

I'd like to have a page with my blog post archives on it.

Best case is a list with headline, excerpt and thumbnail image.

    I'm using the Parallax theme.

    What's the best approach?

I'm trying to keep plugins to a minimum to improve site speed. But I found a plug that turns widgets into shortcodes for use in post/page content. That might be useful for more than just an archives page.

Or, maybe I should modify the archives page template? How can I do that in such a way that future WordPress version and Genesis updates don't overwrite my customizations?

Or maybe there's a third, better option?

    Thanks.

You can create a new page and select the blog page template from the drop down menu under Page Attributes. You'll find the Genesis > Theme Settings enable you to customize the display when using this method.

Or you can create your own custom blog page template file which is far more flexible however may require you to understand coding or simply copy and paste code from here http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/
