    Hello,

I'm converting my website from xhtml to html5.

What are the aspects of the website I need to change? So far I'm aware of the following:

    • Add add_theme_support( 'html5' ); to functions.php
    • Change html markup to this: http://my.studiopress.com/docs/genesis-markup-comparison/

What else do I need to change? Is there anything else to change in functions.php, if so, is there a comparison table?

    Thank-you!

    Hi Matt,

Main thing to understand with the change from XHTML to HTML5 is they changed the markup outputted by WP and Genesis.

You will want to do activate HTML5, yes.

CSS, you will also want to convert your CSS from the old markup structure to the HTML5 markup.

You will also want to check this table for the markup comparison:
    http://my.studiopress.com/docs/genesis-markup-comparison/

You may find other tools to use under the Genesis Documentation Header:

You asked about other functions.php changes, only if the name of the Genesis Hook changed in the transition for XHTML to HTML5. Which I believe you can check here:
    http://my.studiopress.com/docs/genesis-loop-hooks-comparison/

    Thanks!
