    Hi,

Note: I have the Authority Pro theme.

This should be simple but I've spent hours trying to figure it out and I give up. Hopefully someone has an obvious answer for me.

How can I choose a specific post with the featured post sidebar widget?

The featured post widget only allows you to choose a post via category. But, I want to either choose a post by the post title, keyword or tag. Anything other than category.

I want to select specific posts to display in my sidebar. My site has 840 articles so I need to be able to select key posts, rather than general categories.

At the moment I have created a category for every keyword associated with a post so it's been easy to select an exact post, but I'm going to clean up all of my categories for proper navigation and then I will index categories for SEO purposes. Which means I need a different system to target the featured posts in the sidebar widgets.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Gio

The widget doesn't include this functionality by default but you can do it by creating a featured category and adding the posts you want displayed that way otherwise you would need to modify the code in the plugin which requires a understanding of how to use OOP.

WordPress comes with a built-in default widget to display recent posts in your site's sidebar or any widget-ready area. In your WordPress dashboard go to Appearance Widgets and add the Latest Posts' widget block to your sidebar. You can then customize the appearance of your recent posts in the sidebar.
