Hello. I am looking for a solution to an <h1> problem. I need to get rid of the <h1> tags that are in the format of the topic title, specifically...
<h1 class="entry-title">Link</h1>
I want to be able to control the content that is held within all of my <h1> tags without having them be identical to the <title> tags of their respective pages. So what I have done is simple put the <h1> tags into the page copy, which I can control. Now all I need to do is find a way to get rid of the <h1 class="entry-title"> tags. This seems to be built into the framework of the Associate theme that I am using.
On the following link, what I am trying to do is get rid of the <h1> that is displayed in BLACK.

<div class="wrap"><div id="content-sidebar-wrap">
<div id="content" class="hfeed">
<div class="post-10 page type-page status-publish hentry">
<h1 class="entry-title">Home</h1>
(THIS ONE I CANNOT CONTROL - HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS <H1>?)<div class="entry-content">
<h1>At-Home Professions Healthcare Documentation & Medical Transcription Programs</h1> (THIS ONE I CAN CONTROL)
<p>The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.</p>
</div>
Does this make sense? Anything anyone can offer would be extremely appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! 🙂

For posts & pages, the H1 is the post/page title. Put whatever you want in H1 tags in the box for the post/page title.
The title tag is normally set by your SEO plugin, if you are using one, or by Genesis SEO if you are not. On each post/page edit screen, set whatever title you want. There's no need for title to be the same as H1.
For the home page, that's a separate case. If you are using an SEO plugin, check that plugin. For Genesis SEO, you can manually control the home page title tag. For the home page H1, Genesis SEO gives you some choices: use the site title, site tagline, or manually adjust it. The first 2 can be controlled on your WP Settings->General screen; the 3rd choice is harder to do if you're not a programmer. Therefore, just stick your phrase in the WP tagline, adjust your Genesis SEO setting, and you'll have the result you want.

February 14, 2013 at 3:17 pm #20395westongeraldMemberUnfortunately, the post/page title is linked to the menu at the top of the page. So if I change the content in the box for the pages, it also will change the menu, which is no bueno. See what I mean...
February 14, 2013 at 10:55 pm #20457Bill MurrayMemberIn a word, no. Visit Appearance->Menus. If you want different menu text compared to the post/page reading title (the H1, not the same as the SEO title), you simply change the navigation label for that menu item. The default label might be the same as the H1, but it's easily edited by you in the WP dashboard.
Also, you might create fascinating reading titles, but those reading titles might not make great permalinks, so you'll have to evaluate changing the permalink for each post/page.
All very bueno...
