I am looking for help with my menu using the Fabric8ted child theme. The "recipe" section on my menu is not going to the right place. It has been working and now it isn't. My website URL is http://www.bucknrunranch.com. Suggestions appreciated.

Mary: I don't think it's your menu - I believe it's your category: "grub" - when I went to your site archive page, and clicked on the "grub" link, it brought up an error message. If you delete the category and create another category, do you have the same issue?

HI Susan! I was so hoping you would see my plea for help. You have been so helpful in the past. I am going to go try that and I'll be back with an update.

I did that and tried several other things but my recipes still are not going where I want them to go.

Bummer. I sent the response via email and it was returned. I was so excited I didn't read your email very carefully. Anyway it is sent now.

Mary - I'm on your site now. When I looked earlier, your recipe menu item directed me to a category called "grub". I'm not seeing that category on your site anymore. Do you want me to add a recipe link on your menu, and if so, what do category/categories would you like to use?

I deleted the menu item "grub" and substituted "Food Blog" but the posts are not being directed there. I should have at least four posts going there that I changed the category on.

Categories would be "Food Blog" and "in the kitchen"

Yes - I see the categories and the posts, but I'm getting the same error you were seeing before. I created a new test category, and got the same error. So, now I'm doing some research as to what caused the error. From what I've been able to read about it, the issue is probably with the server on your hosting site. I'm going to try something else to see if I can rule anything else out.

Did you make any changes to your functions.php file recently?

NO, I leave that one alone.

    OK. Here's what I did:

    - Deactivated the child theme and Genesis. Installed the 2012 WordPress theme. When using that theme, there are no issues - the category works correctly.

    - Activated Genesis to test that (DID NOT activate the child theme). I received the same error message that we were seeing earlier, so the error is not confined to the child theme.

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and informm them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

At this point, I've re-activated the child theme. My recommendation is to deactivate all your plugins and see if it resolves the issue, and put in a support ticket.

OMG Susan I deactivated all my plugins and it is working fine! I guess I'll have to reactivate one at a time until I figure out where the conflict lies.

    Thanks.

Yay that it was resolved with the deactivation of all the plugins. Now to pinpoint which one it was! Your site was running very slow this evening - have you noticed that?

Yes it is horrible slow but my husband thinks that iPower hosting is the best. I am re-activating plug-ins right now and trying to figure out which one is the culprit.

Mary - it's not my area of expertise - you might want to go ahead and start another thread and see if someone can chime in specifically on that issue.
