Hi guys.. I'm making my first attempt at a blog and really need some advice. I have a youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/anoushkamarie, instagram and twitter and I really want to start a blog to help increase my online presence.

I've come across studio press and see I can buy a template for approx. $99. If I'd like the domain name http://www.anoushkamarie.com do I need to then buy that and host it somewhere else, or does studio press help with that?

Also I've designed the graphics myself on the youtube channel to date, is studio press easy to do that and drop jpgs/logos and the likes in?

Thanks heaps guys, really appreciate it!

    Hello,

    Studiopress has a hosting solution : http://websynthesis.com/pricing/

But if is too much for your budget, I suggest you to get a shared hosting with InMotion, I work with them for almost one year without problems and they have a real 24/7 support if you need any help. http://www.inmotionhosting.com/business-hosting

Studiopress is very easy to work if you have basic knowledge of CSS. If you have problem or need help you can ask here in the forums. Also you have studiopress support.

    Hello,

Yes Studiopress has a hosting solution: http://websynthesis.com/pricing/

If do not fits in your budget I suggest InMotion, they have great support and I never had problem with them.
The lauch plan is good for start: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/business-hosting

Genesis is very easy if you have basic knowledge of CSS. But even if you need help you can use this forum.

    Anoushka:

You will need to purchase your own domain, and hosting. That is separate from the Genesis Framework.

Once you have your hosting account set up, you will go ahead and install WordPress (which is free!) on your hosting, and then the Genesis Framework, and the child theme of your choice.

I wrote a post on getting started here: Your bought a child theme. Now what?

    Hello,

If you want to get your blog going in a much easier way, go to WordPress.com (note... the dot com)...and there you will be able to set up your blog much easier and for a lot less money...and they have lots of themes you can use at no cost (and some you can pay for)...and then after you get your blog going and feel comfortable using it, you can always get your domain name and either get that mapped to your WordPress.com blog (for a small fee) or you could even move to a totally self-hosted blog.

If you don't have much experience with this stuff, and if you don't plan to try to become a web-site designer, wordpress.COM is definitely the way to go...and if you keep it simple there's no need to bother with a domain name, a hosting service, and all those complications.

Thank you guys, I really appreciate the input. I'll have a good look at those two options tonight. 🙂
