    Hi,
I bought the magazine pro theme and I want to know what heading tags I can/ should or shouldn't us in my posts. I've read a lot on this and there are conflicting suggestions out there. Am I safer not to use any heading tags in my blog posts? Jus use the paragraph format and jus bold the headings in the post or is it better to use heading tags. I want my posts to be optimised well in SEO terms? I am using the yoast SEO plugin also.

    Any advice really appreciated?

Here is the format you can go with:

Post title (that is already inside h1 tag)

Sub heading <h2>sub heading</h2> Make sure to switch to html mode while doing this
    heading under this <h3>xyz</h3>

    Sub heading 2 <h2>abc</h2>

General rule is: there is one h1 tag (which is post title) and multiple h2, h3, h4 tags. I usually restrict using till h2 tags.

I've read the following, is this true?

    Using Headings in WordPress Posts

Before you start using headings to structure your WordPress posts, remember that headings are not alternatives for a big font size and a bold font. Instead they have to be treated as SEO tools which tell search engines what your blog post is all about.

Now, your WordPress theme already uses headings h1 and h2 for your blog name, post title, comments title, sidebar widget tiles, and so on. So, we will not mess with h1 and h2 and leave them for the website structure formatting outside of our posts.

You can use h3 and h4 within your posts as follows:

h3 or “Heading 3″: For a heading within the post
h4 or “Heading 4″: For a sub-heading within the post
For a sub-sub-heading, you could use h5 or probably just use bold font or a font with a different color.
