    I'm using Cafe Pro and I can't get the Genesis Simple Edits plugin to let me change the footer text. Would you guys mind helping? Thanks in advance!

    You could deactivate the plugin and use code http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/footer/

    Won't that be overwritten every time the child theme updates? If so, I'd rather not go that direction. Is there another option to get the plugin to work?

    Thats the best solution. Child themes contain custom functionality and style and aren't updated.

    I placed the following code at the end of function.php and it broke the site (white screen). What did I do wrong?

    <?php
    //* Do NOT include the opening php tag

    //* Customize the credits
    add_filter( 'genesis_footer_creds_text', 'sp_footer_creds_text' );
    function sp_footer_creds_text() {
    echo '<div class="creds"><p>';
    echo 'Copyright © ';
    echo date('Y');
    echo ' · The Stand Hot Dogs · Website by SEO Skyrocket';
    echo '</p></div>';
    }

    Do NOT include the opening php tag

    Also, copy the code from the view raw link in the Gist and paste it at the end of the file using a code editor.
