Genesis Sample Theme Question

Hello Everyone,

I have looked through a couple different tutorials on how to customize the Genesis Sample Theme. I found some good tutorials but couldn't really follow fully because the code on the style sheet and functions php has a lot of code and can't seem to find the exact places to place the custom images I made. I am just looking to make make a simple blog with a header, nav bar, the loop, side bar, footer, and background and place my custom images . I created what I would like my word press theme to look like in Photoshop and uploaded the images folder to the theme folder. Can I cut the majority of the code down to just these simple parts or is it all necessary? I am not an expert at this but kind of understand it. If anyone can help with just those parts of code to make it easier to build this theme would be much appreciated.

It's hard to answer your question without seeing the photoshop mockup and the code you are wanting to remove. The header, nav bar, loop, etc. are all basic theme components and they are already in the sample theme. So it sounds to me like you'll only need to add some CSS.
