The default layout for my website pages is to have a single column.

There's one, vital exception – a page I've titled Explore. That page features the primary sidebar, which contains widgets for Search, Latest Posts, Categories and Tags, i.e. all the site navigation.

Since updating to Genesis 2.2.4 just now, the primary sidebar has disappeared.

I've tried creating the page anew in case there's a problem with that particular page but that doesn't solve the problem. I've also tried changing the default layout to feature the primary sidebar just to see if I can get it back at all. It does indeed appear on all the pages. So there's nothing wrong with the primary sidebar.

I'm desperate to get the site navigation working again. Can anyone offer any suggestions for doing so?

Noticing this in all our Genesis designs, too. Hopefully the Studiopress team patches quickly. You can no longer set default layouts on a page by page basis. Everything goes to the default theme setting.

    Hi,
if you haven't done so already, you should open tickets with Studiopress support at
    my.studiopress.com/help
so they can keep track of things.

Thanks for the suggestion, Christoph – I opened a ticket after posting to this forum.

Nathan Rice posted a solution on the GenesisWP Facebook group, so if you are a member there, you can check it out (I would copy & paste it here, but my firewall prevents me accessing FB from this location.)

Otherwise, as Christoph said, go ahead and submit a support ticket to StudioPress directly.

Susan, thanks for letting me know. I've just applied to join the group and it seems strange that the problem and solution haven't been posted here by the Genesis guys. If anyone else can do a copy and paste, I'd be really grateful.

I just approved a number of requests to join the FB group (I can do that from my phone 🙂 )

Because this is a support type issue, rather than a customization issue, they are probably expecting people to submit support tickets if there are issues.

There will probably be an update to Genesis shortly to fix this...

    Advice from StudioPress's Facebook page…

If you're having the layout issue with 2.2.4, change the following line in lib/functions/layout.php (line 343) to this:

    $post_id = is_home() ? get_option( 'page_for_posts' ) : null;

    This solved my problem.
