Has anyone had any success getting the Featured Posts Widget (or better yet — Genesis Sandbox Featured Content) to be able to query categories from other blogs within a multisite install?

I wouldn't quite say it's resolved as I've heard nothing back from Travis for a while and the issue is unaddressed. For the purposes of this forum, though, I'll go ahead and do it.
