When I construct portfoliopages using ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), I usually turn off the default WP Content editor.
But I use the 'Excerpt' field for, well, an excerpt of the post.
When I use the plugin 'Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget' (to create something like a 'See also:' list), and turn on 'Show excerpt' and set the limit to (say) 25 words, it always shows the complete excerpt.
However, when the Excerpt field is left empty and the default content field is filled, the 'Show excerpt' function creates the excerpt form the content field and respects the given word limit.
If both the Excerpt field and the default Content field are filled the 'Show excerpt' function shows indeed the content from the Excerpt field, but again without the word limit meaning it shows the complete excerpt.

    Long story short:
How can I show the Excerpt with a word limit when the 'Excerpt' field of the particular post is filled with content.
