ParticipantI have my home page set to show latest posts (using Modern Studio theme), and I like it that way. However, when I just share the main URL for the home page on social media, the default/featured image comes from the latest post. The most recent image is of a young woman reading a book. It’s a great image, but it gives the impression that the woman is me! Is there a way I can set the default image for the home page without having to make the home page static?

KeymasterSince you have Yoast installed, you can control that in the Yoast settings.

ParticipantThanks for the tip, Anita. The home page is not actually a page, and therein probably lies the problem! I know how to change featured images for posts and pages, but there’s no actual home page to edit since it just pulls in my latest blog posts.

KeymasterDid you see the note on Yoast about having a static page setting. The post is pretty accurate on what to do if you have a static page. If you have not created a blank home page and set that under Settings > Reading, then the Yoast plugin's instructions are what you would follow. You optimize the homepage (which is not a page but the default landing place of the URL) which is the front of your website. You would optimize that under the Homepage setting in the Yoast plugin.

ParticipantThanks, Anita. The issue is that I don't want a static home page. But maybe I'll need to do that to make this happen ... Where can I access the post you mentioned?

KeymasterI think we are going back and forth. You do not need to have a static home page if you are using Yoast. The setting to optimize what's considered the homepage is in Yoast.

ParticipantIs that Yoast Premium? I just don't see anything about home page settings in Yoast settings.

ParticipantOh wait! I think I found it. I was looking in the top navigations bars and not in the lefthand ones in the dashboard. Thank you for bearing with me, Anita!
