I recently switched to a VPS setup with Digital Ocean, and have finally wrapped my head around everything. My site is up, my server blocks are configured, and everything is running faster than ever. I recently moved WordPress to it's own directory, and had to make some nginx configuration changes, rather than .htaccess (as I'm used to). Around the same time, I tried to install W3 Total Cache, but it couldn't write to the directory and threw and error, so I disabled it.

Ever since then, Page Speed Insights and Pingdom are both seeing a version of my website from weeks ago, before my home page was completed. It's entirely text, while I now have an image / add / widget on the home page. Page Speed Insights loads instantly, and the display on the page is that of the old design. It's worth noting that the old design is pre-VPS, the vps has never seen that layout.

Compare the actual site, to what Google sees, and you can see it's the weeks old design. Any idea what's going on?

This is what I see in Firefox.

The associated cache file is "http://anightinburlington.com/wordpress/wp-content/cache/minify/000000/a7268/default.include.c298c0.css"

When you moved the site, did you also move all the old caching files with it? Have you deleted all caching files?

Thanks for your response. I was having issues with W3 total cache, and disabled it, but my wp-config file still had cache turned on (as I w3 didn't have access to the files from messed up security settings). I manually removed w3 total cache, and all related cache data, and it's now fixed.

I still don't know why my current LEMP setup doesn't work with W3, and perhaps it's because I simply moved it over, rather than starting from scratch. I'll attempt to install it now that everything is clean, and hopefully it'll work. Last time, it said it couldn't write, and needed my ftp credentials, but it wouldn't accept what I thought would work. I'm loving VPS thus far, but it's taking some serious learning / getting used to 😀
