MemberI have been trying for the last month to get help to set up this "simple" theme. I have looked for tutorials, found instructions & printed them but I am beginning to think there is no help for the novice.
Does ANYONE have instructions as to how to simply add content the way it is displayed in the advertisement?
Do you set up the page and then add it to menu? Are you to place the content in a post and then add it to a page?
I was told to upload the sample content and that just added loads of categories etc. and now I do not know how to get it out of my dashboard.
I have followed the video for wordpress beginners but this theme does not work the same was so I am still at square one. I liked the theme for the SEO claims but the only thing I was able to figure out from the wp video's was how to set up my about us page.

KeymasterOnce you get the content into the site, you need to drag the appropriate widgets over into the appropriate widget areas, i.e., Featured Page or Featured Posts, drag over the slider, etc., etc. What instructions or tutorials are you referring to? These are the instructions you should be using - http://my.studiopress.com/setup/executive-theme/.

MemberNo. I am searching for another way to design my website. Support continues to refer me to the executive theme setup but it is incredibly vague and unless you have significant website experience, I wouldn't recommend it. I have asked for help and I get the same link so I am thinking you need to be a web developer to figure out their theme.
I catch on pretty quickly but this has been exasperating for me. Maybe you will have a better experience.
Good Luck!

MemberOh, boy. Guess I will pick a different theme.

KeymasterIf you are new to Genesis then you will be at somewhat of a disadvantage to using some of the themes. They "assume" you know how to use the widget areas. Every space on the front of the Executive theme is widgetized. The slider is a widget area, the three images and text under it are widgets, the Call to Action is a Widget area. All you need to do is create your content and then drag over the slider, drag over a Featured Page widget, etc., etc.

MemberHm. I am new to Genesis, but not to WordPress. I am currently looking at in spyr as an alternative as it seems to have extra support and by all accounts is easy.

MemberAnitac:
Should I try a different theme? I do not want anything fancy but I have tried to drag over and nothing is happening. I placed the widgets for Home Top set to pages as the instructions reflected but the pages do not show up.
I have lists of categories and cannot figure out how to get them off the screen.
Any suggestions for me?
Thx

MemberI have sent my email and url.
I am hoping you know of some tutorials that might help as I really want to learn how to navigate & create with word press. I just can't seem to get my bearings as to how to work in this environment.

Thank you for your offer but I was under the impression when I purchased that there would be support. I didn't realize that I had to pay $47.00 per hour extra to get the theme up and running.
Thought I would put this out there to warn unsuspecting others who might find themselves in the same position as I am.

ParticipantThe easiest way to get any genesis template to look like it does in the demo is to import the xml data, but don't do this on a site that already has your content in it. But if you're just starting, it's a great way to figure out how the templates work.
Here are instructions for importing the content: http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/import-demo-content/
After you import it, then log into My StudeoPress > Downloads, find your template and click the Get Started link. That takes you to specific instructions for setting up your template.

MemberThank you for your suggestion although I have followed the video tutorial twice and imported the xml from the download. As I am continually told to reinstall. I will delete and install again.
I have contacted technical support but every time they tell me it is a word press problem, yet the lovely person above says it is installed incorrectly. I would think that the technicians at Studio press would inform me if that were true.
