    Hi Everyone.

About 6 weeks ago, I asked for feedback on a new WooCommerce integrated Genesis child theme called ENVY. I had some great feedback from participants in the beta and thanks to everyone who contributed. As expected there were a few wrinkles to iron out, a couple of chinks to mend, but the final product appears to be well received.

The theme has since gone live and available from http://envy.krolyn.com - and a new theme version released which is optimised for Genesis 2.1. I'd love to get some feedback on the actual host site as well as the theme. All feedback welcome. My goal is to make ENVY the simplest, most developer-friendly e-commerce Genesis theme available.

    Many thanks
    Jon

    Hi John,

Congratulation with the new theme launch and hope you get lots of sales with them ^_^ Just to let you know I just checked the demo site on my phone ( Samsung Galaxy Note 1), the slider appears only its left half part, and when I clicked the hamburger menu icon, the menu is not showing up. Other than that all looks great!

Thank you Almazia! I appreciate your compliment and also your report on the Android bug. I've been doing some testing and the issue appears to be intermittent. However, I've pin-pointed it to a z-index 'layering' issue on Note 1's. I should have it resolved soon. I'll provide notice on this forum when the fix is made.

    Best always
    Jon

Almazia, I believe the menu issue may now be resolved. Please let me know if not the case.

It was a very quirky bug in that there was no consistency. It would work on some devices and not others, and even show inconsistency on the same device. The problem (if now fixed) came down to an odd known issue on Androids. Apparently, if you have a fixed positioned item and an absolute positioned item on the same page, the z-index of the absolute positioned item can be scuttled. Meaning the menu layer would fall behind the slider. Ah, the frustrations of theme design 🙂

Re the slider. This is actually not a fault, but the intention. When the type is to the right of the slider, you will see the full slider image. However, on smaller screens, only the left hand side of the image appears because a full slider would render that area extremely narrow in height. The design of the slider image should be such that the main image content is constrained to the left 50%. I will likely add a tutorial about 'How to design your slider image' sometime soon.

    Best always
    Jon

    Hi John,

The hamburger menu problem is now fixed 😉 Yes I can imagine the frustration of making sure the layout looks good on various devices and systems. Re the slider; I understand the reason. And yes I think if it meant to be that way a short tutorial to design the slider image is important.

    Much success to you
