    No, not at all. The Enterprise Pro theme is a completely different theme. I just built a site on the older Enterprise last month and the widget area is functioning just fine.

    in the enterprise css file, i found this:
    background: #1ea7e8 w1(images/home-top-left.png) left repeat-y;

    could this explain why the widget is not showing images, sliders or text?
    or, is this the code to adjust to remove the horizontal grey band behind top widgets?

    The widget area should still show whatever you add on top of the background image. You can try removing that line from the stylesheet but it shouldn't matter either way.

    If that widget is still coded to display the WP Cycle slider, then no widget you put in Home Top #2 will work... it's written to display only the WP Cycle slider, or nothing.

    Do you have the WP Cycle plugin installed and configured? That's the only way to get the slider to appear in that sidebar space.

    Actually the original home.php is written to display WP Cycle if it exists, but otherwise it will display the regular widget area just fine. That exact home.php is in use on one of my client's sites with an opt-in displaying in Home 2.

    I haven't played with Enterprise in a couple years, but from what I recall, because there's no call of dynamic_sidebar( 'home-top-2') in there to display that widget area, nothing else will display except the WP Cycle slider.

    ...wait a minute....

    yep. Just installed it on one of my test sites, and it won't display any widget at all, except for WP Cycle, as it's currently coded. I moved a widget into Home Top #2, and nothing, but when I moved that to Home Top #1, it displayed fine.

    But if you change the code to this:

    echo '<div class="home-top-2">';
    	if ( function_exists( 'wp_cycle' ) ) {
    		wp_cycle();
            } else {
    		dynamic_sidebar( 'home-top-2' );
            }
    	echo '</div><!-- end .home-top-2 -->';

    It'll display any widget if WP Cycle isn't active.

    I'm glad you're on the ball since I'm clearly not! I just checked the client's home.php and you're exactly right - I altered her home.php. I think I might have blocked out the experience since she was a difficult client to work with. o_O

    LOL, I also remembered it from working with a overly picky client!
