Ok, I'm stumped.
I'd like to link the Call To Action widget with my Aweber account, but have no idea how to do it.
Please help!
April 19, 2013 at 8:44 pm #36500weslindaMemberGood evening. Best place to start is with the Genesis eNews Extended plugin!
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/genesis-enews-extended/
That plugin is the replacement to the built in eNews function and has the ability to hook into AWeber. There is a nice site with tutorials and everything as well.

April 19, 2013 at 9:43 pm #36507PresterJohnMemberThanks - I followed the pdf tutorial (with success) but the 'Go' (Subscribe) button is now not showing on the Call To Action widget.
Any ideas?
April 20, 2013 at 5:13 pm #36619PresterJohnMemberIn other words, it is still not working.
April 20, 2013 at 6:18 pm #36625Bill MurrayMemberSimple things first: did you fill in the button text when configuring the widget?
If so and it's still a problem, you might need to change your child theme stylesheet. For example, with Minimum the submit button does not display without a styling change.
A link to your site where the widget is enabled might provide some more clues.

April 20, 2013 at 7:02 pm #36630PresterJohnMemberHere's the page: http://preachersinstitute.com/
And here's what needs to be done:
1 - make the "Call To Action" ribbon work with aweber account. Right now, I've follow the directions I received above, but no button and no signing up.
2 - return the secondary sidebar on the homepage to the left side where it belongs. The Demo for the Eduction theme has it on the right (I've selected on the left), and it works on OTHER pages, but not the home page.
3 - reduce or remove the number of posts being displayed below the Call To Action ribbon. Currently, 10 are being displayed, and it lengthens the page unnecessarily.
Thank you!
April 20, 2013 at 9:49 pm #36650Bill MurrayMember1. I'm not sure which PDF you refer to. Did you follow the instructions for Aweber that the plugin dev has listed below?
http://www.brandonkraft.com/contrib/plugins/genesis-enews-extended/install/
On a quick look, your submit button code is outputting in the hidden fields div. Based on your previous comment, you want to see a submit button, and of course, you want the form to work. The hidden fields might be necessary to get the form to work, but they might make debugging the missing submit button harder. You might want to try removing what you have in the hidden fields metabox of the widget (recognizing the form probably won't work to get someone on your Aweber list), solve the button issue, then circle back to what needs to be in that metabox.
2. Without a detailed examination, this is always caused by 1 of 2 things: an unclosed div or making one element (e. g., the primary content area) too wide. Based on where it's positioned, you can scratch #2 and proceed to look for an unclosed div.
3. For your site, this is controlled on Settings->Reading. Set the Blog pages show at most to a number you like.

April 20, 2013 at 10:27 pm #36654PresterJohnMemberBill - thank you so much. Found the missing div and the solution to #3.
I have the proper code for the Call To Action, in according to the link you sent (double checked it), but I still get
REQUIRED FIELDS ARE MISSING
Name
Email
When I enter an email in the form.
April 20, 2013 at 10:58 pm #36656PresterJohnMemberBill, please ignore that last post. Everything is now working (thank you) except the button. It is still not showing up.
weslinda, you seem to know quite a bit about this theme and this Call To Action button. Any ideas for help?
April 21, 2013 at 11:17 am #36724weslindaMemberIt would be tough to give much support without seeing what's going on. When I visit the site, it says it's being upgraded.

April 21, 2013 at 12:40 pm #36733PresterJohnMemberSorry, one of my associates switched the coming soon landing page on. It's clear now. Sorry!
April 21, 2013 at 2:15 pm #36750KraftMemberHi Fr. John,
It appears that the #subbutton is set to display: none;, which is why it isn't appearing. This rule is defined in the section beginning on line 2063 of your theme's style.css. You can remove the display: none; line to have it reappear.
Doing that, adds it back, but it's not placed in a good spot.
My suggestion would be to add the following rule to your style.css (the very, very end of the file is fine if you're not sure where):
`.call-to-action input[type=text], .call-to-action input[type=email] {
padding: 13px 5px 10px;
}`That'll reduce the width of the name/email fields enough to get the Go button in line (at least for me on my browser). The middle value (5px) is what I reduced from the preset to get it to "thin up" enough. Also, this will keep all other input fields the same size as before so it shouldn't make any unintended changes.
Hope that helps! Thanks Wes for alerting me on Twitter too. Peace!

Genesis eNews Extended SupportApril 21, 2013 at 2:49 pm #36757PresterJohnMemberBrandon,
Is this in the #home-featured .call-to-action section?
Here's what I found:
#home-featured .call-to-action .enews #subbutton {
margin: 0;
padding: 10px 16px 8px !important;
}I'm not seeing 'display: none;' anywhere.
April 21, 2013 at 2:59 pm #36759PresterJohnMemberThank you! The GO button is in place now.
Is there a way to remove the READ MORE button from the posts and not affect the GO button? (it is an ugly thing which seems out of place on the articles).
Again, thank you.
