MemberI just started using the Woo Commerce plugins on one of my sites. I also installed the Genesis Connect for WooCommerce.
The set up is simple enough, but I'm getting a fair amount of errors when loading, publishing, and saving things. I'm seeing these errors on the dashboard side of things and occasionally on the site itself. I've gotten a number of Server 500 errors and most recently a Content Encoding Error.
It also seems to be struggling with uploading media for product pages.
Most of the time when I refresh everything seems to be ok. Obviously it's annoying and I don't want the end users to experience this.
Has anyone run into these issues or have any thoughts on it?
I'm on WordPress 3.6, Genesis 2.0.1, Craftiness Child Theme 1.0, and WooCommerce 2.0.13
Thanks!

ParticipantHi,
I've seen and dealt with plenty of problems with Woo Commerce, but I haven't seen that particular one.Hosting is one suspect. Godaddy is always less than optimal, but usually one can get it to work at least OK. You could try talking with their tech support.
I also ran tools.pingdom.com on it, and there's something or other that took a whopping 10 seconds to load, something residing at loadus.exelator.com, whatever that may be. (CDN? Some caching thing? a Plugin?) Everything else loaded fairly quick.
That's my take, and I hope it gives you some paths to check.
Good luck, Dave

MemberThanks Dave! I'll give Godaddy a call. Any advice as to what I should be asking them to do?
I'm thinking that loadus.exelator.com is connected to one of my plugins. I may just try deactivating one at a time until that thing goes away to see if that helps.
Thanks,

ParticipantMatt,
You're welcome.
You could contact Godaddy with the exact error messages and describe the circumstances. I hate to say it, but as often as not they will shrug their shoulders and say "talk to the plugin developers", or the like, and in this case, it may be appropriate. In my experience, they were not helpful. But you could luck out and get a more competent and eager support person - it's very hit-or-miss. Quite honestly, I don't recommend them as a host at all, although they're not the worst I've seen.Best of luck!

MemberDave,
Cool. I'll give it a shot. Any thoughts/experience with Blue Host?
Thanks!

ParticipantYes, I've worked on maybe a half-dozen sites on there, and I definitely like them.
It's interesting, any host will have unhappy people, including them. I even helped somebody move a site off of them once. ๐ And hosting quality is always a moving target, as I've blogged about. I liked Bluehost's admin, and found it very easy to handle anything I needed there. I also didn't have a problem with sites going down or being too slow.

MemberGreat! Dave, you've been very helpful. Thank you... And yes, you were dead-on about Godaddy... they were less than helpful. Let the migrations begin! ๐
Thanks!

ParticipantMatt,
Glad to be of help. The curse of Godaddy is that "everybody" buys their hosting, for 2 simple reasons: the only one they've heard of (yay, advertising!), and it's cheap. So I end up working on sites there anyway because people have blown their money before I've had a chance to warn them off. Curses, foiled again! ๐
