I know that StudioPress offers 69 different themes for download, but by filtering them I saw that only about half of them are HTML5 compliant. I also noticed that several themes that are still available for download are apparently no longer promoted (they aren't in the "Shop for Themes" catalog), and from what it seems they aren't going to be updated in the future.

When I first started with GF a few months ago, I thought I was fortunate to have access to 60+ themes, but now I realize that I probably won't be using one of the older themes on a site. Essentially I am limited to a few more than 30. I do realize that this means there are still plenty to choose from, but it does change things around a bit.

I suppose I can envision using one of the older themes for an event site which only needs to be set up temporarily, but not one which will be permanent.

So, does anyone else here use any of the older, non-HTML5 themes? If so, what type of site do you use it for?

They may have their place but, personally, no. I use the more recent themes that are built HTML5 and bring all that goodness with it. However, you can also make any Genesis theme HTML5 compatible with a number of resources available to you. Start with these:

You can also find hundreds of Genesis themes through the links in my.sig below, including more than 50 that are free:

Choose your next site design from over 350 Genesis themes.

Thanks, Tom. That's a nice resource.
