Display post excerpts is not updating with new changes

Under 'Content Archives' if I set to 'Display post excerpts' the excerpts do not update if I change information in the original post.

If I set as "Display post content' then I see the updated changes but the view format is not what I want.

I assume the 'excerpts' are being cached somewhere and not getting updated.

I do not have any Caching plugins installed and I have tested flushing local browser cache.

How do I update these excerpts so they have the updated post changes.

Does your host use Cloudflare or any kind of CDN by chance? If you aren't seeing changes on the live site, it almost has to be a caching issue.

I have no caching plugins and excerpts never change even if you wait weeks. If you click on the except and open the post you see the updated info.

Are the excerpts being displayed manually created ones, using the Excerpt field?

You could change the post content 500 different times, but if you added anything to the Excerpt field, that will supercede any auto-generated excerpt from the post content. It won't update until you update the content in the field.

on new posts they are definitely created automatically as I can create new post and the extract appears just fine without doing any additional steps.

When I update an older post then it does not update. Where do I see if the except is manual or automatic as you might be onto something here. When can I even find the excepts to edit them?

On the post editor page, scroll down and look for a box that says Excerpt. If you don't see it, go back to the top and look for the Options tab at the very top right of your screen. Click to open it and check the Excerpt box and you should be able to see it.
