I really thought Genesis will kick me very high as it does that on the enterprise theme on wordpress.com.
I bought Enterprise and constructed also my own theme on Genesis. You can see this here
http://www.wp-plugin-dev.com/But I have doubts if google is recgognizing the content as it always finds only the first page.
I love Genesis but please help me to improve my SEO without additonal plugins.
March 28, 2013 at 9:11 am #31749AnitaCKeymasterI've looked at your site. Genesis SEO is a tool inside the Genesis Framework. In reviewing your site, it doesn't appear that you are using this featured. Please take a look at Genesis > Genesis SEO under your Dashboard. Also, on each Page/Post, there is an SEO area. Are you inputting content into those SEO areas for your Pages and Posts?

March 28, 2013 at 9:21 am #31759theodeMemberBut I want google recgognize the content and not my SEO settings.
It is a pity I have to input the SEO stuff myself instead of leaving it to the framework.I also deactivated the seo stuff for pages and posts.
I know in the Enterprise version on WordPress.com has no SEO options at all but is very good ranked because it better recgonizes the content.
March 28, 2013 at 9:29 am #31760AnitaCKeymasterThe MAJOR reason why your blogs had such great visibility was "because" of WordPress.com itself. When you self-host, you need to do part of the work yourself. But WordPress.com has a very high visibility rate. I would suggest using the Jetpack plugin which provides additional features from your WordPress.com hosted account. This might help you also.

March 28, 2013 at 11:02 am #31790AnitaCKeymasterWhen you were on WordPress.com, were you using the WordPress domain name or did you have your domain name associated with your account on WordPress.com? How was that account set up?

March 28, 2013 at 12:05 pm #31804theodeMemberas blog.wordpress.com. I installed Jetpack on another Genesis driven blog .
What is Jetpack doing according to SEO in your opinion?March 28, 2013 at 12:22 pm #31807AnitaCKeymasterSEO is much more than the search engines viewing content within the body of your blog. It reads your title, keywords you put in to the SEO settings. Before content management systems, when websites were done in HTML, the meta keywords and descriptions had to be manually entered into the theme/template. With CMS now, such as WordPress, you still need to do that.
Brian Clark of Copyblogger shared some useful information on SEO - http://www.copyblogger.com/seo-copywriting/. Take a look. There are tons of blogs and website that discuss SEO. But merely placing text on a page is not SEO.
As for Jetpack, it connects to your current WordPress.com account so that you can continue to use some of WordPress.com features that you could only enjoy if your blog were still hosted there. One of the features I've activated is the Enhanced Distribution where you can share your public posts and comments to search engines and other services in real-time.
The best SEO plugin I've seen and trending is Yoast.com. Although you don't want to use a plugin - if you want to enhance or increase your visibility on the search engines, you will need to use one.
