I am trying to make a directory site for which I want my directory users to create their own entry in the directory and manage it. But they should not be able to edit anyone else` entry? Is it possible for me to give this level of access to users. In Drupal it is a no-brainer, though.

Thank you for willing to help.

You can add them as a contributor role using code or a plugin like members https://wordpress.org/support/article/roles-and-capabilities/

Thanks for pointing me in a direction. However, I could not find anywhere on the page whether a particular user can be restricted to create and his own page only. Perhaps, the plugin you mentioned assigns a role to a user type and not to an individual user.

    Thanks anyway.

You can add them manually in your WordPress Dashboard > Users > Add New.
