I really like the following website and it's a good excuse to ask a question that I've long struggled with about the Genesis framework. This site uses the Genesis framework, but it has simple stylings such as the image background for the contact form and the shaded trim on the nav bar and side bar.

I though the Genesis framework couldn't be modified and that's what appears to be going on here - the framework stylesheet has code added to it even though I thought you shouldn't modify the framework directly, right?

I ask because I'd love to simplify my designs. I love the child themes and do modify them with great results, but I'd love to get a feel for my range simply using the Genesis framework and build a site like this for practice. I'd love to try it this weekend. What does anyone think?

    Thank you in advance!

Use the Sample theme; that's the child theme which is based on the framework. That way, you're not touching the Genesis framework itself, but modifying a child theme, which will then NOT be overwritten with an update to Genesis.

Can I add an image to the sample Genesis theme if I use this layout? (above the text area, below the logo).

    See http://medical.expert-witness-blog.com/8-2/

Also, any direction for adding a header graphic/logo?

Thanks to anyone who can help.
