I just bought the genesis framework and started cruising through the options for customizing. So far, it seems like you really need to know how to edit the css stylesheets and understand coding in order to change things like site and sidebar widths, font colors, font styles, and other simple things.

Is that true? Or am I missing something?

I haven't purchased any child themes because I'm trying to figure out which one would give me these options.

I've been using suffusion and it's HIGHLY customizable for such things, without having any knowledge of css or coding of any kind.

You could try the Prose theme or even Cobalt Apps who have a theme and plugin for non coders.

You will find good support for custom coding on these forums.
