    Guys my site is http://www.booktips.in

1)I've looked at a lot of seo tips and have started optimizing my new site. I would like some support from you guys. Can anyone suggest me some SEO tips specific for my site?(www.booktips.in)

2)Well i have another doubt. One SEO tip was to gain Backlinks from high ranked site. But i somewhere read that doing this wrong will have a negative impact. So can someone suggest me on how to get good backlinks for my site? ANd are there any free directories where i can register my education site for college students?

On point 2 - getting Backlinks from a high ranked site is a great thing for SEO - just don't buy links. Getting links requires you to reach out and engage your industry, provide good unique and regular content, its a slow process over time.

If you haven't already, use the SEO plugin from Yoast.
A friend who is a Google Analytics expert recommended it to me.
It bumped my Alexa rank up about 30% after two weeks.

They have an informative blog and newsletter.

Thanks for your suggestion but i'm already using it! But by any chance do you know if infinite seo by wpmu dev is better than SEO plugin from Yoast. I know that infinite SEO is paid but i already have a license.

My problem with yoast is that it disables the built genesis seo , also there seems to be an opinion that yoast does not work well with the genesis framework
    ?

Yoast disables inbuilt settings as you only need to run one, I disagree that Yoast doesn't work well on Genesis, it works the same way as on any other theme.

It looks like you are building back links right now. I hope you really need help and are not just pulling people along wasting their time with a cheap attempt to get back links from the forum.

    Wouldn't surprise me.

Yes at once you need and should have only one seo plugin. Almost any seo plugin disables the default one!
Even i do think that the Yoast Seo Plugin for wordpress is very good at what it does. According to me no other free plugin comes nearby!

Be useful to other people. If you just do that, you'll be fine.
