    Hello,

    I would like to be able to set a custom header image or background with the h1 heading overlayed on top, on pages and posts on the Altitude Pro theme.

    Ideally I would like to be able to set a custom header background or image on a per page/post basis.

    Something similar as per on http://www.studiopress.com/get-started or http://www.layerswp.com/blog/

    I have been looking around for plugins and code snippets but nothing seems to work.

    Anyone got a suggestion or two for a plugin or code snippet?

    Something like the Front Page (Widget 1), but a skinnier version, not the full page height would be cool.

    Try this plugin; it should do what you want. There is a settings page to make choices. It will display the featured image at the top of any page or post. You can choose to add page titles on top or below.

    Note that your images don't show up, so not sure if this is what you want. Robin's site uses it, so you can see it here:
