On my client's site, there has been 2 spam comments left on 2 different pages, but we have never had comment boxes on the pages. How are these being left on the site?

I did go into Settings > Discussions and unchecked "Allow people to post comments on new article", but it still mystifies me that a comment was left in the first place without a comment box.

delete the comments from your comment list. Edit the pages and uncheck the comment/ trackback checkboxes.
