Hello. I've looked pretty extensively for an answer to this question and I have not found an answer.

Running WP 4.4.1, Genesis 2.2.6 and Prose 1.5.2.
    The site address is elainedent.net

Full disclosure: I just moved the site within the same domain and converted it from a multisite to a single site.

Before the transformation, the comment windows were showing correctly, and there were regular comments to the site.

In the single site version, I have checked everywhere I know for settings related to comments and found them in:
    (1) genesis menu under theme settings; and (2) settings menu under discussion

I checked every setting the had anything to do with comments.

The discussion is important to this client, and I need to have some advise on how to fix it. TIA.

Oops. There is one more thing I wanted to say.

For older posts that had comments, if you display the post, the comments display correctly. However, there is no blank comments box in which to add another comment; i.e. all posts including prior ones with comments, show no comments block.

Also, I have read in many places about being able to enable or disable comments for individual posts. I have checked by using the editor on existing posts and the option is not there.

If you are not seeing the option to enable comments on individual posts, go to the top of the screen on a post (in edit mode), and open up the "screen options" tab, then check the "discussion box". It will then give you the option to allow comments on a single post.

If comments were previously allowed on a post, make sure that you haven't checked the box to automatically close the comments after a certain number of days.

If you have enabled comments in the Genesis settings, and the discussion settings, you will then need to do a bulk edit of your posts to enable comments (Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > (select all posts) > edit > allow comments > Save.

Thanks very much. You gave me the hint I needed to fix the problem. I had a couple of misconceptions that needed to be corrected (the main one being that "discussion" is essentially the same as "comment"). Very much appreciated. My wife is now happily accepting comments again, and things are better at home!! 🙂
