Hi
i'm working on http://www.pontypriddvets.co.uk based on the Associate theme. I have managed to alter my header image to take up roughly the space I want it to but my ideal layout is:
'Image left' - 'image centre' - 'widget right'
with each image linking to separate (internal) page and the widget to the right being facebook related.
The easiest way I can see of doing this is to change my header area into three widgets which I can use for html/text boxes to do what I want.
I can find the css for the 'header widget area' in the ctyle.css but can't locate the code for this widget in functions.php or home.php (like you can with all the other body/footer widgets) so I am struggling to find out where to change/update this
Any advice, partularly as to where I find out where the header widget is inserted?

Do you want them to display on all pages or just the front page?
Do you want them to display after the nav menu or before the nav menu?
October 24, 2013 at 12:22 pm #68669AODMemberTo your first question - because I don't know how hooks work! haha (I do now, though, I gained a basic understanding while completing this task)
I'd like them on all pages, fairly standard fixed header, nothing fancy
I'd like them before the nav menu
I've had a crack at it - http://www.pontypriddvets.co.uk (using a combination of your excellent site - the guide I used was http://wpsites.net/web-design/add-header-left-widget-genesis/) and some others) and managed to get this by leaving the 'header image' alone (beyond some basic resizing of the box itself and the image) and adding a widget as detailed. I had a bit of trouble getting it inline to start with but adjustment of sizes got me there (i've already forgotten what I did).
The 'central' widget (named widget-left) I have padded at the top by 10px. I wish to do this to the header image as well but despite playing around with padding values in the full size and partial size header areas, haven't managed to do it. Where can I find the correct area to pad the header image?
To the right is the empty space yet to be filled with something, but this already has the genesis default right widget so I shouldn't have a problem filling it. I have already adjusted the size. Where do I find the .php stuff for this widget?
Cheers

Which widget are you referring to?
There are no default header widgets accept for the header right widget which is coded in the Genesis files.
October 24, 2013 at 1:03 pm #68672AODMemberYes, that's what I mean, the default right header widget coded into genesis. Where is the code for this? I couldn't find it in my functions.php or any of the genesis files I looked in.
Also, where do I find the setting to pad the header image (the logo on the left hand side of header?)
Cheers

All the header CSS is under the Header section in the style.css file.

Also, I can find the header CSS in the styles.css file no problem. I have adjusted various paddings for full size and partial size header images, as well as for the header itself. I have had various bits moving around but what I want is the header image/logo to come down off the top by about 10px. Do you know what padding setting I need to change for this?
October 25, 2013 at 2:55 pm #68921Brad DaltonParticipantYou can add a margin-top: 10px;
But i couldn't see the image on your site.
Its not a good idea to edit the Genesis file.
