MemberI'm not sure this is possible, actually, I'm pretty sure it isn't, but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.
I'm using the Agency Pro theme.
I was wondering if there's a way to change the link of the Genesis Featured Posts widget. I've been using 301 redirects up to now, when I need a shortcode to show up as the link. I'm using a popup shortcode from the Anything Popup plugin. I really don't know how to make this work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

MemberI'm sorry, I really don't understand what you're asking. Can you try to explain it in a different way, or be more specific in what you're trying to do? What someone clicks on a post in your widget area, you want the link to redirect to another page? So far you're using redirects, but for some reason you need a shortcode to trigger a redirect?
Best,
Lauren

Member🙂 I'm sorry, I didn't explain it very well, you're right lol
On the Agency Pro theme demo, there is a Genesis - Featured Posts widget in the Home - Middle widget area. So there is a post that corresponds to each square on the home page. The posts each redirect to a page with information on it.
So far, that has done well, with each cube leading to a page.
I don't really know why I mentioned that in the OP but oh well. Here's the real issue:
Now, I'd like the top left box to have a popup with the WP Email Capture in it. The WP Email Capture plugin comes with a shortcode, which I've put inside of the Anything Popup plugin's shortcode. Now I need the Anything Popup shortcode to be pulled when the top left cube is clicked. Actually any popup/lightbox would work.
I really didn't think it was possible, but the boss wants it haha
I hope that clears things up pretty well, and sorry for not being clear earlier!
Thanks for trying to help!

MemberSince that's a widget area, making it a popup doesn't make any sense, and neither does making be a series of redirects 🙂
Why not just embed the email signup form in that widget area and it would be there all the time? Sort of a permanent call to action space.

Did you click the link and look at the site?May 2, 2014 at 11:44 am #103343Summer
MemberI wasn't able to last night, for some reason the site wouldn't come up.
My question is still why not have the signup in that block instead of making people click on another page... as someone who's seen trends of traffic and engagement drops to people who just don't want to click too much, and who's still learning the ins and outs of copywriting, it's something I'm a little aware of.
For me personally, there's nothing in that space that would encourage/entice me to click for more (the call to action isn't compelling, and there's no extra info on the clicked-to signup page to make clicking to it rewarding). So having the signup form right there on the front page might be more engaging.
Extra clicks is good for finding easter eggs in video games, but typically not so much for lead capturing.
As always, this is just my observation, and feel free to completely ignore it if need be 🙂
The site-in-progress is truly beautiful, btw, but it seems like there's a tease or something missing from the front page, something that would hook me and tell me more about what the site is about and make me want to stay and read more.
That said, if you truly want a popup signup form, most plugins do an automatic popup after X number of seconds on the front page (or whatever page you set)... having a click-to-popup involves a lot more code, and if people never click on it, it will never pop up to tease them into signing up 🙂

MemberSome good advice there, @Summer!
Thanks for the feedback. However, we don't want the annoying-ness of a automatic popup. So we'll probably just have the box link to an optin page instead. I didn't think we could code a popup into that square anyway!
