Hi all. I just purchased the Genesis framework but I've been unable to upload it to my Bluehost server. It says the file has to be in Zip format before I can upload it so I downloaded izip, put it in zip format but it still doesn't recognize it. I get an error message that says "Could not extract file from archive. genesis/index.php". Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I purchased the framework and Genesis theme, first I downloaded them from My Studiopress to my PC.
I already had a WP account set up and had been trying out free WP themes already.
So I then opened my WordPress > dashboard > themes and uploaded both the framework, then the sample. Then activated the sample to use for editing the theme. You do not do anything with the framework except it there in the Theme gallery.

The files you download from Studiopress are already zipped.
WP does the unzipping on your site.
Try doing that way, leaving out the extra compression step and I bet it will work.

I did however unzip them on my PC so I could use them with Instant WP which allows you to simulate the WP environment on you PC rather than edit and work on a live site.

I hope I understood your question and that my suggestion helps.

The best way to upload your theme is through your WP site, Like timothy said.

Thanks Timothy. Yes, like you, I also downloaded WordPress for free on Bluehost. Then I purchased Genesis on Studiopress but none of the downloaded files say .zip. I tried uploading the entire file that was downloaded to my hard drive (with all the subfiles and folders inside) but it didn't work. That's when I tried to turn it into a zip file. That didn't work either. Was I supposed to receive a Genesis zip file from Studio Press?

    Thanks again for you help.

I got it guys. My computer was automatically opening the zip file after downloading. Once I unchecked that box in Safari preferences, it worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch for your input. It was appreciated.
