Cannot View Post- 404 error

    I just purchased Genesis Prose and am new to WordPress.

    I tried making my first post and it shows in the "view" before I publish it, but once I publish it, I get an error that
    Not Found, Error 404
    but I can see the post under the "author" tab.

    The website is unclaimed-funds.org and the post is titled "alabama".

    What am I doing wrong?

    My best guess without being "inside": you have a folder called /alabama off your site root, and this would conflict with that WordPress document.  If so, just rename or delete it.

    David,

    OK, thank you for that information.  Yes, I changed the name and it worked.  I did not want to change the name, but if it is in a file somewhere, I'm really not good with that, so instead of messing something up, I just changed it.

    When I learn a little more, I'll try to find that file and change the name to what I want it to be.

    Ah, my shot in the dark hit the target!  Very cool.  That comes from having gotten that arrow in my back myself.   🙂

    It sounds like you changed the name of the WordPress document vs. changing the folder name.  In the scenario I described, that works, too.
